A signed California Pesticide Medical Supervision Agreement is required to enter an employee into the program.

The registration fee includes baseline testing and initial examination.

Submission of this document serves as authorization for billing of the registration fee and testing as required of the cholinesterase monitoring program.

Cholinesterase monitoring requires routine blood testing. Unidad Medica Santa Maria Valley provides blood draw services in the office for the Cholinesterase Monitoring Program. This service is available on specific days each month. Blood drawing services are available at hours outside of these windows at an additional cost.

Employees are monitored at 30-day intervals for the initial 3 months and if stable the interval is advanced to 60 days. This interval may change based upon medical director discretion.

Medical supervision of pesticide workers is provided in compliance with the guidelines for physicians who supervised workers exposed to cholinesterase inhibiting pesticides.

Employees and employers are notified of results in compliance with regulation.

All results are compared to baseline cholinesterase levels. Any abnormalities are reviewed with the employee with recommendations to the employer regarding whether a worker can continue working with pesticides or whether the worker should be temporarily removed from working with pesticides.
